Trespa® Top Lab Base (TLB) Formerly Athlon

Trespa Top Lab Base (TLB) formerly branded as Athlon has been engineered for quality and abrasion resistance. Trespa TLB offers an outstanding interior application in educational, pharma laboratory, and institutional school applications (grade school, middle school and high school applications) where chemical resistance is not critical i.e. Physics labs, Biology Labs , Flex Labs, etc.

TLB melamine surface delivers excellent scratch & abrasion resistance and overall durability, retaining its appearance for an extended period of time. Trespa Top Lab Base (TLB) is highly resistant to wear, making it ideal for worktops surfaces and cabinetry facia applications where severe use and frequent cleaning are expected. Its surface is not adversely affected by moisture and the panel remains impervious to mold, rot or bacteria growth. Food safe and easy to clean are its main attributes.

Impact Resistance

TLB (Base) offers the combination of a solid, homogenous phenolic black core with a hardened work surface based on melamine resins formed under high heat and pressure to form composite compact panels (SPC) to provide exceptional impact resistance and other attributes. Typical applications are wall cladding, toilet partitions, cubicles, work tops, shelving units, etc.

Abrasion and Wear Resistance

TLBase is produced with a surface structure that is required by industry to provide excellent abrasion resistance. The panel is highly resistant to wear, making it ideal for installation in heavy use traffic areas and when frequent cleanings are expected. Care and maintenance are required for all solid phenolic panels.

Moisture Resistant Phenolic

Phenolic Resin countertops and tops are not adversely affected by moisture and are not susceptible to discoloration, mold or rot. Both the work surface and the core are manufactured using specific, thermosetting resins, which make them impervious to moisture. The dimensional stability and workability of phenolic resin are comparable to those of hardwood.

Less Expensive & 10-year product guarantee

Trespa Top Lab Base is less expensive than its chemical resistant counterpart - Top Lab Plus - while still offering reasonable chemical resistance, abrasion and moisture resistance. All with a 10-year guarantee.

Using Renewable Resources

Trespa ® TopLab Base products are available with the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification TM (PEFC TM ) or Forestry Stewardship Council TM (FSC TM ) certification upon request for restricted quantities and jurisdictions. The use of FSC TM and PEFC TM certified Trespa ® panels may also contribute to points associated with green building certification systems like LEED, BREEAM and DGNB. These certifications are one of the initiatives resulting from Trespa's Sustainability Policy, by which Trespa shows its commitment to the use of raw materials from sustainable origin and to forest preservation.
